06 Nov A New Blender in Your Kitchen Can Change Your Life
Blending can be a joyful experience at any time of the day. Most blenders are simple to operate, cost-effective, and save time and effort. They are also handy for getting your 14-year-old teenager out bed (unfortunately, juicers are not quiet machines). It can be used any time throughout the day. A blender in the kitchen is a great compliment to a juicer because instead of just extracting the juice from foods, it keeps the fiber in foods, which is a healthy addition to your diet. You can make smoothies, shakes, soups, juices, condiments, and dressings to name a few possibilities. Preparing a superfood-packed lunch, a mid-day dessert, and/or a delicious soup for dinner makes things so much more exciting.
I recommend a high-quality blender, such as the Vitamix. You can think of a blender like a car. You can buy a “junker” for nothing that will break down in two years and create a lot of hassle and frustration in your life, or you can choose a car that is higher price up front, but it offers great mileage (saving you money), includes a comfortable interior you actually enjoy riding in, and it eliminates stress rather than causing it. The same concept applies to blenders. Spending more upfront on your blender means you’ll have smoother smoothies (cheap blenders can mean chunks) and even quicker blending times.
I think your hard-earned money should be spent on a blender that loves you back – because you deserve it. You will have the desired consistency and optimal taste with a blender that can do the job right and has all the characteristics of becoming you and your family’s new best friend. Stay tuned with SuperLife as I post awesomely simple recipes using your blender to incorporate new flavors and culinary experiences in your kitchen! Below, a smashing smoothie recipe directly from my SuperLife kitchen to you in order to supercharge your morning routine.
BLUEBERRY-APRICOT SUPERFOOD SMASH
KITCHEN UTENSILS
WHOLESOME INGREDIENTS
- 1 cup fresh or frozen organic blueberries
- 1 cup whole or frozen organic apricots (about 2-3 apricots)
- 2 cups hemp milk (a brand without carrageenan)
- 1 FULL SCOOP vegan chocolate Shakeology protein or protein blend of choice
OPTIONAL
Let’s kick up this smoothie a few notches. The following list of ingredients contains traditional powerhouses from around the world you can have in your own kitchen, and in your own blender. They provide vitamins, minerals, essential fatty acids, and a wide list of plant nutrients that enhance taste, and of course, your well-being.
- 1 teaspoon maca root powder (can also substitute with sweet mesquite powder)
- 1 teaspoon cacao nibs (or powder)
- 1 teaspoon chia seeds
- ¼ teaspoon matcha green tea powder
- Extra filtered water (if needed to blend smoothly)
- ½ teaspoon bee pollen (sprinkled on top, not blended)
STEPS TO SOMETHING DELICIOUS
- Blend all ingredients in the blender, minus the bee pollen.
- Serve in drinking glass or bowl. Sprinkle bee pollen on top and swirl in (it’s a little added texture I love)
SUPERLIFE GUIDE
The ingredients under “OPTIONAL” are extra additions. As in some high-quality, organic protein blends these ingredients are already a part of the mix. If you feel like more, one can always add them in as desired (I recommend it!).
