29 Dec Make Healthy New Year’s Resolutions Last a Lifetime
The power of persuasion through marketing has a stronger effect on us than we like to admit, and it seems that the influx of gym deals, weight loss programs and commercial promises this time of year is usually what hooks us in.
You start to believe that ‘this year is going to be different’ and that you’ll finally ‘lose the weight’ that you’ve been meaning to work on for years.
But what have you been waiting for?
I hate to break it to you, but a magic pill doesn’t exist and there’s nothing truly different this year about every other year. Like clockwork, our busy hectic lives always seem to get in the way, the crowds at the gym dwindle and the weight you were losing while eating 500 calories a day quickly returns as you realize that the ‘magic membership’ you purchased didn’t deliver results over night and that being constantly hungry just wasn’t for you.
Sadly, most of these marketing schemes are only focused on selling you something that delivers quick (and sometimes dangerous) results. These companies have no interest in helping you achieve lifestyle changes or healthy habits that you can easily implement for the rest of your life.
I am genuinely passionate about helping people create and live their healthiest life. I believe it is possible for each and every one of us, no matter how far down the rabbit hole of weight gain, poor food choices, or lack of self-care we have fallen, there is always a way out.
You just have to decide to start and find your true motivation.
There’s nothing special about New Year’s compared to any other day, including TODAY.
SuperLife at its core is a complete lifestyle, not a diet plan or quick-fix for weight loss. It’s a way of living, taking care of you, and helping you feel good for the long term. My team and I are consciously creating content just for you every week to promote health in all aspects of your life. We choose to focus on mind (motivation), body (health) and spirit (wellness). Because we all know that we can’t be fully content with ourselves if all aspects of our lives are not in full alignment.
The ‘New Year’s Resolution’ or commitment you choose to make must be owned and believed in by you. Which means it must match up with your greatest values.
Be true to yourself and have an honest conversation based on what you value most.
Is it your health?
Is it your strength?
Is it your desire to be more positive in all aspects of your life?
Is it a dream you want to follow?
Once you’ve honestly answered that question create goals that support that. Even health goals should support having a life that you love that reflects what is most important to you!
The next step is to stop procrastinating and to take action.
Throw out the mindset of ‘I’ll start on Monday’ or ‘2017 is my year to change’ because all of those options include not taking responsibility and leave you waiting till a later date to start taking care of yourself.
Make small changes each day so you don’t get overwhelmed and set yourself up for failure. Nobody can clean out their entire house, lose 50 pounds, or train to run a marathon in just one day. Instead, they take steps towards the goal each day until suddenly they’re crossing the finish line and taking a deep breath in, as they acknowledge how great it feels to have achieved their goal. Small wins create the motivation for the larger goal.
Commit to creating a healthier you, a happier you, and a more motivated you by celebrating small win after small win.
Start by making a list of what you want to work on. Look at each item and ask yourself if it can be broken down into smaller goals, and then tackle it one small thing at a time.
From there ask yourself this important question: what has prevented me from achieving this in the past? Do you not drink enough water? Is it because you don’t have a good water bottle that doesn’t leak so you don’t want to take it with you? Consciously name your barriers and then take action to remove them.
Adopt true changes, creating sustainable habits that become part of you and make your resolution(s) last a lifetime. Take the power into your hands and enjoy the benefits you experience as each day passes. If you believe in it, then I know you can and will make it happen.
Plus, once your friends and family see how much better you feel and your health and positivity begins to shine through, they won’t be able to stop themselves from asking you ‘How did you do it?’
Wishing you Happy Holidays & a Healthy New Year!
