Tampons | Fatal Conveniences™

Tampons | Fatal Conveniences™

If you’re a woman who uses tampons during your period, you’ll use about 16,000 of them in your lifetime. Do you know what’s in your tampons? And if they’re safe for the most sensitive part of your body?

WELCOME TO Fatal Conveniences™.

About 70% of menstruating women choose to use tampons.

I’m not going to pretend to know anything about what it’s like to get your period every month. And trust me, I’m not going to mansplain to you how to deal with it. But I happen to have a lot of amazing women in my life, and I care about the issues that affect them. And a topic I frequently get asked to cover is tampons. So we dove into the research… It was troubling, to say the least.

I get why tampons are the most commonly used product to deal with menstrual blood. They seem super convenient, and less messy than other options. But what concerns me is that most tampon manufacturers are not telling you what ingredients are in their products. The most commonly found brands in stores are making tampons full of harmful chemicals. And these chemicals are going into the most sensitive part of a woman’s body, and sitting there for hours!

In this episode I break down the damaging chemicals found in tampons, and what they do to your body. We also cover Toxic Shock Syndrome and what you need to know about it. Don’t worry, you don’t have to stop using tampons if that’s your preference. But I will give you some safe brands to look for instead, as well as some other options my women friends tell me are worth trying. No menstruation stigma here- let’s talk about tampons!

I’m one of your loyal fan, and you are surprisingly have lots of Amazon topics that no one talks about it.
I forwarded this episode to my daughter to listen.
As I’m among very few people that never used tampons, therefore, didn’t let my daughter to use it. I felt that maybe she is missing out and this episode confirmed my reasoning of decision I made years ago and she will be happy to hear it from you with more scientific reasons.
I’m 58 years old, never had any types of infection and my hormones have been working just fine.
Thank you for all you do for everyone!

Thank you for giving us a wake up call. I truly appreciate what you are doing, so please keep it up. I have learned so much from your podcast and I am able to make the small changes that help animals, the environment, and it just so happened that it helps my own health. Since going vegan 3 years ago my mind and body has changed in so many ways. No bad vibes here.

Love your podcast! The fatal convenience on tampons really resinated with me. My daughter had toxic shock syndrome in February 2021 and nearly lost her life. She was in the pediatric ICU for four days and general floor for three days. It was the most traumatic experience of our lives. I thought this was something of the past but couldn’t have been more wrong. She was only 14. It was directly caused by using tampons. I learned so much from that experience and try to share all the information we have learned anytime I can! I’ll definitely share this episode. Thanks so much for spreading awareness and the great info! I truly appreciate your wisdom and love for everyone!
